BPG provided surveying services related to providing a topographic survey of approximately 10.4 acres. The survey was done to National Park Service Standards and will show at minimum site topography, existing utilities, and the location, elevation, and nature of other prominent features.

Nags Head Multi-Use Path
Westside Multi-Use Path – Phases I-IV
Location: Nags Head, North Carolina
Project Highlights:
This project consisted of the design & development of a 10’ wide hard surface multi-use path for the Town of Nags Head. The purpose of this project was to establish a pedestrian multi-modal path along the west side of U.S. Hwy 158 in an effort to encourage pedestrian traffic along this route. Services rendered consisted of design surveys to locate all existing site features, including underground utilities & existing landscaping that would be affected by this routing as well as construction staking. The final design incorporated handicapped accessibility improvements, safety measures, landscaping & stabilization features, and drainage improvements in conjunction with the defined pedestrian access way. Additional services included proposed construction cost budgeting that aided in the funding of the project. The design was in accordance with NCDOT standards, specifications, policies & procedures.

The Seascape Beach & Golf Villas is a residential multi-family development spanning 12 acres in Kitty Hawk, NC designed with an emphasis on recreation. On-site, you’ll find two outdoor pools, an indoor pool, a playground, and two tennis courts, all adjacent to an 18-hole golf course and adult putting green. Bissell Professional Group was most recently involved in the indoor recreation facility commissioning and design of the indoor swimming pool and spa. The crown jewel of the KSRA is the popular Kinnakeet Shores Beach Club, the only oceanfront recreational facility on Hatteras Island. The Beach Club offers private ocean access via an accommodating boardwalk that traverses the local dune line. This facility offers a crystal clear swimming pool with an adjacent kiddie pool, showers, and restrooms. The expansive pool patio is accentuated by an elevated observation deck that is the perfect place to sit back and relax. Harvey Estuarine Access
Soundfront Access
Location: Nags Head, North Carolina
Project Highlights:
The Harvey Estuarine Access is a public access is a handicapped accessible facility developed by the Town of Nags Head for the purpose of non-motorized recreational activities. The facilities consist of a sound front boat launch ramp, restroom facilities, and associative parking to accommodate various water sports activities. This project also contains sustainable elements including a cistern for the capture of rainwater runoff for reuse in irrigation of the surrounding landscape. Other sustainable techniques utilized include solar panels for the heating of hot water for the bathroom facilities as well as bio-filtrations basins, or rain gardens, for the capture and treatment of stormwater runoff. Bissell Professional Group provided engineering and planning services for the redevelopment of this tract.

RV Campground

Project Highlights:
The Refuge on Roanoke Island is located off of NC 345 just outside of Wanchese Village. This Outer Banks RV Campground has 57 RV sites with 15 available for nightly Outer Banks camping. The remaining 42 sites are designed as year-round Outer Banks RV campsites. The Refuge on Roanoke Island has an outdoor pool to enjoy, boardwalks that meander throughout the property that provide their guests with nature walks, and the opportunity to view all of the Outer Banks wildlife. Bissell Professional Group provided engineering services for the planning and design of this community through 2007.

Project Highlights:
Bissell Professional Group has been instrumental in the planning and preparation in the development of oceanfront access facilities. The design elements have included parking accommodations, stormwater management facilities, outdoor showers, elevated observation overlook, handicap accessibility, landscape buffering, bicycle facilities, and ocean access walkways. Sustainable techniques have been included in the design to include the incorporation of permeable pavement systems within the designated parking areas for reduction in rainfall-runoff volume generated by the development as well as infiltration devices for the management and treatment of stormwater runoff.

Washington Baum Bridge Boat Ramp
Recreational Boating, Fishing, & Parking Facility

The Washington Baum Bridge Boat Ramp is located on the west side of the Washington Baum Bridge, directly across from Pirates Cove Marina. There is available parking for approximately 50 vehicles and trailers, with several railed walkways that provide easy access for recreational fishing.
